About the Author
Katherine's historical research has taken her along the Oregon Trail, to the reenactment of the Battle of Cedar Creek, to England and Scotland, and in 2015 to Bletchley Park and the beaches of Normandy. Also, while researching 'The Emerald Brooch' she flew on Texas Raiders, a World War II B-17. This year she'll be spending even more time in New York City researching 'The Diamond Brooch', along with a summer trip to Italy to research the Italian Renaissance for 'The Pearl Brooch' to be released in 2017. Katherine is the mother of two daughters and the grandmother of five. She is also a marathoner and lives in Lexington, Kentucky.

I love this series by Katherine Lowry Logan

I love this series by Katherine Lowry Logan, it is a fantastic mix of history, romance, and mystery. This particular story doesn't have time travel in it like the others; however, it is a satisfying and rich story with characters from the other stories in the series and introduces new ones to the adoptive clan. It could be read as a stand alone book; but it is much richer if you have the background of the stories in the series read in order: The Ruby Brooch, The Last MacKlenna, The Sapphire Brooch, The Emerald Brooch and currently this one The Broken Brooch. If you like full rich stories driven by strong, well developed characters and plots that allow you to indulge your senses and yet not have to park your brain in neutral before reading. You will enjoy these books, as I have over and over both written and in audible format.

I enjoyed reading it

I enjoyed reading it. In fact that was a surprise because I have so far liked the ones that go back into the past a lot more than those that stayed in the present. But I did like some of the new aspects brought in and there was a lot of mention of things that can be expected for the books to come and for the new families joining the clan. Just a bit disappointed that the criminal bit was resolved so easily and without any further drama. I'd expect a bit more of that actually. Still waiting for the next book of the series, especially since somehow it sounds like it will be like volume 2 to this one.

Seems like the story could have been deeper. ..the events came together too quickly for me. Steamy sex is overdone here, and there's little suspense. Overall it's just not as interesting as some of the other books I've read by this author.
