Just say it. The truth isn't that bad. Stop thinking, Kerry! You thought through everything with Matt and look where that led--he broke your heart. If you control this, if you call the shots, then it can't turn out that way. The words tumble out of my mouth, and I feel brave, reckless, and free. It's the insane trifecta I need so I don't back down and chicken out.

I turn to him, stepping in front of him before he can move away from the wall. "I need some comfort, and you do, too. I know this can't be, that it's not a long-term thing. Neither of us wanted that before, and let's face it--for all practical purposes, we have the weird relationship weirdness without the perks.I think we should finish that and move on. If friendship is next, I'm game. If there's nothing after this, that's fine. I don't want to think about tomorrow, and I'm dying to forget today. I figured you might want that, too."

By the time I say the last word, we're lip to lip. I'm close enough to kiss him,to press my body against his, but I don't. I leave the slight distance because I need him to say it's all right. He has to know this isn't some kid crush."Listen, you're not taking advantage of me. That's not what this is. I know what I need. I need a rebound guy. Nathan's breathing is heavier. With every breath, his chest swells and his nipples brush against mine through his shirt. The touch is faint, barely there. His eyes lock on mine, and I know he's torn. Pushing him is cruel, but we're on a clock. It's tonight or never. Before this, no one would question the hookup. Before tonight, I didn't know he was a teacher, and he didn't realize I was a student. All that baggage becomes an elephant in the morning.

He breathes my name and closes his eyes. He's going to say no. I feel it.

It's over. There's no chance of anything with Nathan, and as soon as my hope falls to my feet, he pushes off the wall and steps toward me. As he looks down at me,his eyes lock on my lips. "That sounds like a good plan."

I lift my lashes and look into his eyes. "Nate."

The corners of his lips twitch as a slight smile spreads across them. "Kerry."

I stare, knowing I can't taste. I should walk away, find some popcorn, anything to put some distance between us, but I don't want to move. He's still close enough to feel the heat from his body. The memory of his sinful skin against mine is still fresh in my mind. My fingers twitch at my sides as I resist the urge to touch him. I'm drowning in him, in his scent, breathing him in. I can't stay this way. Friendship requires distance and right now there is none.

He's a friend who had a hard day. Give him a hug and be done with it. I slip up on my toes so I don't mash my breasts into him too much, and give the most sisterly hug I can manage. He's surprised at first, but then I feel his hands on my back. He pats me, and when he begins to pull away, he slows as my cheek brushes against his. A strand of my hair catches on his stubble, so he trails his finger over my cheek and tucks it behind my ear. His hand lingers. His lips are right there, so close to mine. I can't breathe. I don't move. His eyes dart between my eyes and my lips, finally lingering on my mouth until I have to suckin a breath. My chest swells, making my breasts press against his chest. I try not to breathe, but it doesn't help. The pressure of his body on mine is exquisite and unbearable at the same time.

My lips part and I stumble back into the wall. Nate moves with me, placing one of his hands on either side of my head. He moves slowly--as if he knows he shouldn't--sweeping his lips against mine. I shiver with the contact and feel my heart rate increase to frantic levels. I'm breathing like a hyperventilating asthmatic. It's so far from sexy that...

Secret still not revealed to us!

I love all of H.M. Ward's books, they keep me coming back for more every time. In this book Kerry and Nathan are having a conversation when Peter Ferro comes along, he had a letter for Nathan, because he didn't show up at the meeting. We don't really know what's in the letter but I have my suspicions. Kerry had already been through so much since she started college, and now her world is being turned upside down again with the knowledge of Nathan being a teacher. There are so many funny things, such as Kerry driving around in a bus, and the fact that a raccoon lives in this bus with his beedy eyes, but then there is also the sad stuff that Kerry had been through. I received an ARC for my honest review. The next installment will be just as great as this one because H.M. is an awesome writer, she never disappoints us. Holly, keep up the great work.

Oh my, so many hotness wrapped up in on series, it doesn't get any better than this!!! I am an addict, needing more!!! I can not figure out the connection of prof Nathan Smith and Pete FERRO yet....????hmm?hmmm . Beth ROCKS and is a true friend to Kerry (poor girl has been through a lot, and I can NOT get started on her mother or this review will get UGLY!) Beth's hot brothers and Carter.... still a mystery!!! Need next book.

Excellent Follow up to S & L 2

Secrets & Lies 3 is a great follow up to # 2. The story line develops further, more loops are thrown at you and the forbidden romance is... Well you need to read it (I'm not throwing in spoilers). This series is a great addition to the other HM Ward story lines. I love the direct this one is taking. It's right up there for me with The Arrangment

A Reading the Paranormal Review

I love love love these glimpses of life we're getting for the aliens and their mates. I mean, I love the big stories, too, but the little ones just make me so happppppy.

This time around we got to see Megan and Cashol being all sweet and gooey with one another. Megan's a wee bit on the clingy side, but she has good reason to be. I ADORED how she loved Cashol's goofy side and tried to temper her clinginess because she knew Cashol was doing something that needed to be done. Honestly, I really, really got where her fears were coming from. After what she'd been through during the initial abduction, the thought of losing someone close to her was overwhelming.

This one got a big *thumbs up* from me, although it's definitely not a stand alone. It just adds a little depth to the characters we've come to know and love on this icy planet.

This series is a damned addiction. Each one is better than the last and not as good as the next. They are absolutely habit forming. It is impossible to pick a favorite. Read this one, but before you do, do yourself a favor and buy all the others in the series too because you will not want wait to read them all once you get started!

Awesome short story

I love this novella. Nora trying to deal with having twins and her mates out hunting. I love having Asha helping out so she can get her baby fix in. It was seeing a different side of her besides her being jealous and spiteful. Great job.

No annotations on each page

My problem with the Kindle Bantam Classic edition of Othello is that there are no footnotes at the bottom of each page. This means no immediate vocab definitions or comprehension aids. I bought the Kindle edition because my old Signet paperback Othello is yellow with age, plus tiny font. (I'm rereading Othello before watching the live performance starring Blair Underwood and Richard Thomas.) Not being a scholar of Elizabethan English, I do need annotative help with the vocab and idioms. So unfortunately, it's back to the old, barely readable but annotated Signet print version for me.

Great play, great electronic version

Othello was one of the first plays I was exposed to when I was younger. It has murder, suicide, intrigue and things that would get a teenager into Shakespeare.

I've had mixed success with some of the free Kindle versions of Shakespeare. Some have been good, some have been awful. This is an exceptional version. It's formatted nicely and is easy to read. The only "lack" is that it is without line numbers, so if you were to use this for academic reasons, you might have an issue or two.

Thus far, Othello's my favorite free Shakespeare play. I missed how much of a jerk Iago was, and all the deception that lead to Othello killing Desdemona.

After having graduated from college 19 years ago, I was a little intimidated about reading Shakespeare again. However, the Folger Library makes reading Shakespeare much easier to follow (& more fun)! The words that appear as "foreign" to the modern English reader are briefly explained on the left side of each page -- which makes the text easier to follow. I only wish they had these words in bold, because I ended up highlighting the words that are referenced. Because of this, however, I don't have to read a synopsis of each act or scene before delving into the actual text!

Othello is such an interesting play that I find it hard to put it down! I definitely plan on reading more Shakespeare's plays from the Folger Library!!!

The Republic (Greek: Πολιτεία, Politeia; Latin: De Republica) is a Socratic dialogue, written by Plato around 380 BCE, concerning the definition of justice (δικαιοσύνη), the order and character of the just city-state and the just man—for this reason, ancient readers used the name On Justice as an alternative title (not to be confused with the spurious dialogue also titled On Justice). The dramatic date of the dialogue has been much debated and though it might have taken place some time during the Peloponnesian War, "there would be jarring anachronisms if any of the candidate specific dates between 432 and 404 were assigned".Plato's best-known work, it has proven to be one of the world's most influential works of philosophy and political theory, both intellectually and historically. In it, Socrates along with various Athenians and foreigners discuss the meaning of justice and examine whether or not the just man is happier than the unjust man by considering a series of different cities coming into existence "in speech", culminating in a city called Kallipolis (Καλλίπολις), which is ruled by philosopher-kings; and by examining the nature of existing regimes. The participants also discuss the theory of forms, the immortality of the soul, and the roles of the philosopher and of poetry in society.

"The Gift of the Magi" is a short story, written by O. Henry (a pen name for William Sydney Porter), about a young married couple and how they deal with the challenge of buying secret Christmas gifts for each other with very little money. As a sentimental story with a moral lesson about gift-giving, it has been a popular one for adaptation, especially for presentation at Christmas time. The plot and its "twist ending" are well-known, and the ending is generally considered an example of comic irony. It was allegedly written at Pete's Tavernon Irving Place in New York City.

Heyer's meticulously detailed illustrations are pretty but stilted; the characters look like mannequins. The rueful Jim fares better than poor prematurely middle-aged Della, who at times looks more like his mother than his wife. Still, the story is as touching as ever, and neither time nor mediocre artwork can dim its glory. All ages.

Grade 5 Up–An illustrated, unabridged version of the classic short story in which a young husband and wife each, unbeknownst to the other, gives up a most treasured possession to buy the other a wonderful gift. The gifts, of course, are useless as a result, but the couple's love is presumably all the stronger. The sepia-toned watercolors have an authentic period look; the details present in the New York City street scenes and the couple's rather shabby apartment add a strong feeling of time and place to the story. Very different in style from Lisbeth Zwerger's lovely and delicate version (S & S, 2006), this is a fine choice for libraries needing another illustrated edition of this Christmas tale.–Eva Mitnick, Los Angeles Public Library

Gr. 5 and up. A classic story becomes a picture book for older readers in this oversize edition. Heyer's paintings reflect the turn-of-the-century setting and are nicely executed, if occasionally stiff. Because the protagonists are both adults, there will not be automatic appeal for younger children, but preteens, and especially teenagers, should find the romantic appeal that has been apparent to previous generations of readers. I love this story.

This is a short story that I read over a decade ago for the first time, and it has stuck with me since then. In the story, it is Christmastime, and we meet the two main characters, a young married couple who have each other and very little else, except the husband's (Jim's) heirloom pocketwatch and the wife's (Della's) hair. In a despirate attempt to provide a worthy present for her beloved husband, Della sells her knee-length hair to buy a gold chain for the pocketwatch. Little does she know, Jim has done something just as extreme for her. This is an inspiring tale that, despite its simplicity, speaks volumes about the sacrifices we willingly make for those we truly love.

I had a fabulous version of this story that my mom would pull out at Christmas time for us to read. I bought this version for my classroom, but the language is not adapted well for young listeners or readers. The illustrations are lovely, but if you are reading this with younger children, you will have to explain quite a few vocabulary words.

It is a very informative book!
For my work I needed a guide for Windows 10. It was necessary for me to sort out New Microsoft Windows 10 very quickly. Having read the book I was absolutely satisfied. There are new useful features of Windows 10 which are explained very good. You will get a compact guide from this book and the author uses simple words to explain the functions of each computer terms in order to be very comprehensible.
It is a perfect guide for Windows 10.
I highly recommend it for everyone!

Only a pamplet!

This book is nothing but a pamphlet. It claims to have 40 pages, but when you take out the copyright page, ad pages, and blank pages, it has only 25 pages. It covers a few topics on how to run Windows 10, but very few, and is far from being a complete manual on windows 10, which was what I am lo oking for. The pages that do have copy are only l/3 to 1/2 filled with information. I knew little more after I read it than I did before I read it.

To be honest I liked this book!
This is really a super guide on how to operate Microsoft Windows 10. This book contents excellent information that teaches everyone how Windows 10 works. Moreover there are lots of useful tips and tricks which could definitely help everyone to sort out this operational system.
