Received a copy for a honest review

Ok so for 4 books we have gotten hot, tattooed, alpha men and women from the House of Payne. Now we have head of the House's security non-tattooed alpha Ezekiel Steele in the mix along with Essie Santiago, fashion designer and Twist's little sister.
We found out in book 3 why Essie left Chicago as a damaged teen, but now she's back in town to win the honor of being House of Payne's exclusive fashion designer. Being that it's Payne we know she's gonna have to jump through some hoops to get there.
I think it's great that straight out of the gate Steele, as he likes to be called, knows how to deal with Essie. When she finds out that the contestants have to go through deep background checks for the contest she wants out, she doesn't want anyone else to know she has been through some serious s*** that almost killed her.
By pushing her into a corner, so to speak, he gives her a reason to stay because she is a fighter!!
These two characters are made in fire from the experiences they've lived. Him a ex solider, not only scarred on the outside from the wounds of battle, but scarred on the inside from the wounds that his childhood and his ex wife left on him. Her scarred both on the outside and the inside from a monster that decided to take her childhood from her.
Watching these two together is great! Steele does a awesome job of making Essie feel safe, yet letting her come into her own.
Steele realizing that his perfect ex wife wasn't worth the pedestal that he put her on and that he hurt the one person that he promised not too broke my heart.
Essie and Steele fit together so well that when they figure it out its beautiful.
Reading about the fashion show is super cool! I love seeing how Essie gets her inspirational from the different tattoo artist! Enter Mad Max!! Helloooooooooooo hot stuff!! Accent and tats he needs a book like, STAT!!!
Not only did Gail give us our original House favs and introduce us to a new hot tattoo god, but she also gave us some seriously mental competition for Essie in the Fashion Designer contest!
Dizzy Izz and Oliver are pissy, uppity, and just plain no completion when it comes down to it, but like a good villain makes for good tv they also make for good reading too!
I love just how well Gail's characters fit in the story, whether they're a main character or a side one.
I LOVE this series and can't wait for more!!

This series continues to blow my mind. Not a little bit. A lot. It's equal parts sweet and sexy and empowering and so incredibly emotional and it makes me feel all the feels. Yes, I might have teared up once or twice. IT HAPPENS. (Although I usually deny that part. My cold, black heart must be finally unthawing. Or something.)

Essie is amazing. We learned her story in Twist and she's fought hard to be where she is now. I mean, she's FOUGHT. I didn't know if Steele's issues could match hers, but...they did. The guy has as much baggage as she does and watching them navigate their way through the bumps and chasms of their relationship was GLORIOUS.

Honestly, who doesn't like a dirty talkin' man who unwittingly bares his soul to someone who's just as damaged as he is? And a lady who figures out that she has steel in her spine after said man takes the time to coax her out of her shell?

LOVE LOVE LOVE!

This series is five books strong and every installment has seriously rocked my socks off. Payne and those who orbit around him make me giddy and I'd be hard pressed to choose a favorite couple among those we've already met. I'm VERY happy to know we're going to get more of the explosive relationships and temperamental shenanigans that go hand in hand with this house.

Not my favorite

First, I love this series. This book not so much. The characters, the story, the writing, all great. The public sexual escapades, not my thing. The whole "someone can see us", may sound sexy and dangerous, but seriously , it's not, what if someone with kids sees them, not cool. And the sex scenes, I am down for dirty, but not Dom-ish. When she started calling Steele, "professor", because, you know he's teaching her, and he starts to call her "pet", as in teachers....I lost all interest in those scenes. I skipped the rest of the sexy times , because, that was just kinda ew and ick for me. If that talk works for you, enjoy. I of course loved the rest and hope, fingers crossed, the next book, not so fifty shade of cray cray. Twist and Rude are still my favs, swoon.

A Shameful Ripoff

My criticisms of this "book" are simple. It isn't really a book. It is a pamphlet, 6 1/2 pages, with large print and large illustrations on several pages. It is not hardbound. What it does appear to be is a shameless attempt to co-opt an imaginary book title from "Calvin and Hobbes" and make a quick buck for the author. Amazon should be ashamed for carrying this travesty.

Disrespectful and Shameless!

Make no mistake - if you are a fan of "Calvin & Hobbes", this book -er pamphlet - is a attempt to separate you from some of your money. "Author" Mabel Barr (there is a distinct possibility that she is not even a real person) swiped the idea (the title) straight from "Calvin & Hobbes", and then fabricated a story to accompany it. The publisher is located in Gig Harbor, Washington, and - as another reviewer has noted - most of the positive reviews hail from Gig Harbor or nearby Port Orchard, or otherwise appear to be written by relatives of the publisher. One of the reviewers also runs the "official" (it's not) Calvin & Hobbes fan club website - the domain name of which just happens to be registered to the publisher of "Hamster Huey". Not coincidentally, most of the actual content on the site relates to the promotion of the book/pamphlet. The entire project, and everything surrounding it is a sham.

Seriously?!

So if you look at the From The Publisher part of it says "Ms Barr says that to her knowledge, she has never met Bill Watterson and offers no explanation as to why the title of her story is the same title that Calvin enjoys."

I can offer an explanation. Its because she stole the title and is hoping that fans of Calvin & Hobbes like me will look this title up and buy it. I'm happy I read that part because saying you never heard of a title that is so specific as "Hamster Huey and the Gooey Kablooie" that the title has been around since 1985 and that has been published and mentioned in different books of the calvin and hobbes books and using it for the title of a book that is the same makes it really shady to buy this book.

I won't purchase this book because I don't want a dime sent to a writer who plagerised her story to make a quick buck and not give credit to the original person who came up with the idea but only mentions Bill Watson as a coincidence. I hope others will do the same and not be fooled to purchase something like this. I originally thought the story was approved by bill watson or this was made long ago, but seeing it was made in 2004 the writer is guilty of plagerising from a creative person.

Please don't buy this folks.

I read the reviews and they were very good so I decided to order this book. I must say I wasn't very impressed at all, not saying the book was bad it just wasn't what I expected. It was pretty much just like all the other books out now a days just didn't have a cliff hanger. Always someone in the crew who is a snake and of course the main chick in the book is pregnant and of course the side chick gets pregnant also. Overall the book was an okay read but it's not like there isn't a hundred other books with pretty much the same plot. IJS

OMG Hood!

I waited for this story.......When you think you have found the one all hell breaks loose. Through separation, betrayal and hurt Rhythm and Hood endured and found themselves back together. I was rooting for Hood being young and thinking with the other h---- he learned his lesson the hard way. Niqua you brought it full circle!!!!!! This is a must read. Follow Niqua Nakell you will not be disappointed. Loved it and waiting on your next book!!!!!!!!
